Fable: Chittibabu is a partially deaf, irritable, and cheerful native of Rangasthalam village. He makes a living by watering irrigational fields with the help of another villager, Mahesh, and a vehicle owned by his acquaintance Kolli Rangamma, whom he refers to as atta (aunt). Chittibabu lives with his parents and sister and is over over heels in love with Ramalakshmi, a farmer who is initially oblivious of his hearing loss. The local government of Rangasthalam is governed by Phanindra Bhupathi, the president of the panchayat, an influential and brutal landlord who abuses the co-operative society by demanding excessive interest rates and intruding on farmers' lands under the guise of outstanding loans. Chittibabu's brother, Kumar Babu, who left the village for work, comes to Rangasthalam and is unhappy to find what has happened. Continued...
